The North Shore Veterinary Clinic team includes a number of experienced veterinarians with varying areas of expertise who work together to provide the best, most well-rounded care for your pet.

Dr. Seth Cohen
I have slowly and surely made it from the east coast to the west coast! Originally from Philadelphia, my educational pursuits took me to the Midwest, where my amazing wife, Nuala (a Canadian!), and I have lived for the better of the last two decades. When relocating to Vancouver, we brought our two current fur babies, Lemmy and Marcel – a 3-year-old long-haired big guy and a 1-year-old "baby boy." Rest assured, I also love dogs and hope to acquire a new pup soon!
I have a special interest in internal medicine. I truly enjoy diagnosing and managing challenging cases, with a particular focus on gastrointestinal and renal disease. I have advanced training in ultrasonography and gastrointestinal endoscopy. I am directing more attention to general and geriatric patients' pain management and cognitive issues. Continuing to broaden my knowledge and skills is extremely important to me as a veterinarian, and I strongly believe that education, communication, and early interventions are the cornerstone of keeping pets healthy and happy.
I have a strong love of all Philly sports. I am also an avid fantasy football "player" and a supporter of Tottenham Hotspurs' soccer. I enjoy reading, watching movies at home, and eating great food with my wife. We look forward to eating, biking and hiking our way around our new home in Vancouver.

Dr. Bob Horne
Dr. Horne was born and raised on the North Shore. From early childhood, he has loved and admired animals. After achieving a Bachelor of Animal Science degree at UBC he realized that the only career he wanted was in Veterinary Medicine. He attended the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon for another 4 years and graduated in 1984. His first job as a Veterinarian was in Aldergrove, he then worked at Granville Island Veterinary Hospital with Dr. Dennis Jackson. Since then he has worked in Port Coquitlam for 29 years and has now come full circle back to his favourite place, North Vancouver. Dr. Horne owned a Jack Russell Terrier named Emma and he looks forward to working and spending more time with his friends & family on the North Shore.

Dr. Carmen Lo
Dr. Lo grew up in Vancouver for the majority of her life. She attended the University of British Columbia and earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing in 2000. However, she decided to pursue her childhood dream of being a veterinarian and obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2007. Before moving back to Vancouver, she moved to St. John’s, Newfoundland, and worked at a 7 doctor veterinary hospital for a year and a half.
Dr. Lo enjoys gardening, crocheting, making jewelry, drawing, and travelling with her husband when she is not working. Currently, she is learning to play the violin as well.

Dr. Jessica Lam
Dr. Lam grew up mainly in Vancouver and graduated from Oregon State University in 2012. Since then, she has spent time in academia (internship at the Ontario Veterinary College), emergency medicine, private practice and the pharmaceutical industry. Her professional interests include surgery, preventative and geriatric medicine. She is very excited to be a part of the team at North Shore Veterinary Clinic as the staff are just amazing. She now lives in North Vancouver with her husband, orange tabby (Miso) and Morkie (Mochi). In her free time, she can be found snowboarding, hiking and doing yoga. She also speaks fluent Cantonese and understands basic Mandarin.

Dr. Alberto Schlicht
Dr. Alberto Schlicht was born in Chile but spent a memorable childhood amongst howler monkeys and silent sloths in the jungle of Venezuela. Back in Chile, his family moved to a farm in the South of the country, finished High School and then graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine earned at the Universidad Austral de Chile in Valdivia.
Later on, he moved to Vancouver and finished a M.Sc. degree in Animal Science at UBC in 2003, completed his Canadian Veterinary Accreditation in 2008 and has been practicing veterinary medicine throughout the Lower Mainland and the Sunshine Coast since then.
He is passionate about veterinary dentistry and it has become the main focus of his professional development. Dr. Alberto accumulated extensive dental training with veterinary dental specialists and continues to attend conferences, lectures and wet laboratories on a yearly basis to keep most up to date with current techniques and development in the field. He performs around 600 procedures per year and enjoys every single one of them. Dental problems are referred to as the “Silent Disease” as our pets cannot say: “I have a toothache” and yet, it has a major impact on their daily lives and the general well-being of our pets.

Dr. Aleksandar Jovanovic
Dr. Aleksandar Jovanovic was born in former Yugoslavia and moved to Canada with his family at a young age. He grew up in Ontario, where he discovered his love of animals. Dr. Ktena recently moved to Vancouver as she endeavoured to find the balance between the rhythms of the city and nature. She enjoys all aspects of general practice and focuses on delivering the best quality of life to her patients. During her free time, Dr. Ktena enjoys playing music, tennis, sailing, hiking, yoga and horseback riding.

Chloe has worked across the Lower Mainland in general practice with the BC SPCA and spent a year at a clinic equipped with an underwater treadmill, where she completed a certificate in canine physical rehabilitation therapy. With this professional interest, she hopes to continue to be able to better help pets enjoy living comfortable lives after experiencing an injury, illness, or simply many birthdays. As a volunteer, she supports local outreach initiatives improving community access to pet care services and education.
